Canyon High School set a league record Saturday, scoring 235 1/2 points en route to a first-place finish in the Century League tournament at Canyon High.
The Comanches, who broke the tournament record of 235 points they set in 1988, had eight wrestlers finish first and all 13 advance to Friday’s Southern Section 4-A finals at Edison.
Canyon’s Tom Casenhiser, the No. 1 ranked heavyweight in the county, returned after missing four weeks with a pulled hamstring and pinned John Chambers of Santa Ana Valley in 4 minutes 20 seconds.
El Modena, with three first-place wrestlers, scored 151 points and finished second. Santa Ana had 91 1/2 points to finish third.
