Members of the visiting Agoura High team got a close-up look at the state’s all-time leading scorer Friday night and came away believers after losing to Glendora and 6-foot-8 forward Tracy Murray, 109-60, in a second-round Southern Section 4-AA Division playoff game.

Murray scored 50 points and had 10 rebounds in what has seemingly become a routine performance for him.

He increased his state record to 2,755 career points and boosted his season total to 1,207, a 44.7 average. He is now 52 points shy of the state single-season record.

Glendora (26-1) won its 23rd consecutive game, expanding a 48-26 halftime lead to 83-37 after three quarters with a 35-point period. The Tartars connected on 12 of 16 field-goal attempts in that span and Murray led the way with 25 points, sparking a 32-4 run.

“We got beat by the best offensive player that I have ever seen in high school,” Agoura Coach Kevin Pasky said. “We spent too much time concentrating on stopping Tracy and not enough time controlling the other kids.”

Agoura (9-13) scored seven of the first 10 points in the third quarter, but the Charger defense succumbed to Glendora’s fast-breaking offense. The Tartans scored 27 of the next 29 points.

The Chargers had the lead once, 4-2, 69 seconds into the game, but Glendora went on an 11-0 run during the next 4:11.

Agoura shot 22 of 64 (34%) from the field and 13 of 21 (61.9%) from the free-throw line. Sophomore guard Sean Martin led the Chargers with 16 points. The Tartans shot 56% (37 of 66) from the field and converted 26 of 37 free throws (70%).
