Corona del Mar Athletic Director Ron Davis Retires

Ron Davis, athletic director at Corona del Mar High School for 22 years, retired Thursday.

Davis, a Laguna Beach resident, came to Corona del Mar in 1967 after 11 years as an athletic director at Azusa High. Corona del Mar’s athletic teams were the most successful in Orange County in 1988-89, winning six individual or team titles in the Southern Section and a state Division II boys’ cross-country championship.

“My wife and I want to live on the East Coast for a year, and then experience living in some other areas of the country like Montana,” Davis said. “Our senior class graduates Thursday night, and I’m graduating with them.”

Davis said he will be on the selection committee to name his successor.
