Al Washington, who quarterbacked Carson to the 1982 City 4-A title, was among 99 players invited to Arena Football’s league-wide training camp, the league announced.

The league’s five teams will participate in a joint training camp at St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, Ind., today through July 2. Washington was assigned to the defending champion Detroit Drive.

A wide receiver-defensive back-quarterback, Washington played for the New York Knights last season, catching 23 passes for 308 yards and five touchdowns. He also shared the team lead with two interceptions. The Knights decided not to operate this season.
