GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Blackburn Scores 18, Brea Pounds Katella

Tammy Blackburn had 18 points to lead Brea-Olinda High School to a 70-43 victory over Katella Thursday in a championship quarterfinal game of the Brea-Olinda girls’ basketball tournament.
Aimee McDaniel had 17 points, Jinelle Williams had 13 and Jody Anton added 10 for Brea (6-0).
Karen Jensen had 16 for Katella (3-2).
In other Brea-Olinda tournament games:
Tustin 64, South Torrance 41--Christine Garner had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tustin (6-2) in its second-round game.
Esperanza 45, Fontana 44 (OT)--Jenifer Harney had 18 points, including the winning basket with about a minute left in overtime for Esperanza (6-0).
At the El Dorado tournament:
Canyon 44, Whittier Christian 40--Cori Daldey had 15 points and Sheri Rhyne had 13 to lead Canyon.
In the Santa Ana Valley tournament:
University 42, Santa Ana Valley 34--Denise Gandara had 23 points and 20 rebounds to lead University (5-2).
In nonleague play:
Valencia 41, Capistrano Valley 39--Guard Sig Lo had 14 points and Hollie Keeton 10 points and 19 rebounds to pace Valencia (1-3) at Valencia.
El Dorado 47, Sonora 41--Briana Yoshina had 11 points and Theresa Korte had 13 to lead El Dorado (4-1).
