WEST COAST CONFERENCE ROUNDUP : Jerome Scores 24 to Lead San Diego Over St. Mary’s
John Jerome scored 24 points and Pat Holbert added 15 for San Diego as the Toreros beat St. Mary’s, 76-65, in a West Coast Conference game at Moraga, Calif., Friday night.
San Diego (2-2, 7-9) put the game away with a 15-3 run with 10:21 remaining. St. Mary’s (2-2, 5-11) never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
USF 53, Santa Clara 51--Melvin Chinn made four free throws in the game’s final 19 seconds to give Santa Clara (5-11, 2-2) a narrow victory at San Francisco.
Jeffty Connelly and Nils Becker led the Santa Clara with 14 points apiece. Shawn Sykes led USF (5-12, 1-3) with 18.
