Golden West, OCC Women Will Battle for First Place

Golden West College will be looking to increase its lead in the Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball race at 7:30 tonight when the Rustlers play host to second-place Orange Coast.

Golden West (25-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play) holds a one-game lead over the Pirates (21-4, 5-1) at the halfway point.

Golden West defeated Orange Coast, 79-58, in the conference opener. Golden West also defeated OCC, 67-53, in the championship game of the Cuesta tournament in December.

In Friday’s other games at 7:30, Saddleback (11-12, 2-4) is at Cypress (0-20, 0-6) and Rancho Santiago (6-12, 1-5) is at Riverside (15-9, 3-3). Fullerton (12-11, 4-2) has a bye.
