COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Saddleback Women Win Volleyball Tournament

The Saddleback College women’s volleyball team defeated Chaffey, 15-12, 14-16, 15-2, Saturday in the championship game of the Saddleback tournament in Mission Viejo.
The Gauchos were led by Debbie Quam, the tournament’s most valuable player who had 14 assists, and Jody Narey, an all-tournament team selection who had eight kills.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Dixie Utah 3, Fullerton 1--Clarissa Honore had eight kills for Fullerton but the Hornets (1-3) lost, 15-9, 15-9, 11-15, 15-9.
In the MiraCosta men’s soccer tournament:
Irvine Valley 0, Fullerton 0 (Irvine Valley advances on penalty kicks, 8-7)--The semifinal match ended in a sudden-death shootout after each team made the first five penalty kicks. Irvine Valley (4-0-1) advances to today’s tournament championship match at 2:30 p.m. Fullerton is 2-2.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Cypress 1, L.A. Harbor 1--George Charlesworth tied the score 20 minutes into the second half for host Cypress (1-1-1). Charlesworth’s goal came 10 seconds after Harbor scored on a penalty kick--its only shot-on-goal of the match.
