COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine Valley Men Tie Orange Coast in Soccer

Greg Daman scored with seven minutes left to give Irvine Valley College a 2-2 tie with Orange Coast in the Orange Empire Conference soccer opener for both teams Tuesday at OCC.

OCC (3-4-1) had taken a 2-1 lead eight minutes earlier on a goal by Darin Courter. OCC led, 1-0, 18 minutes into the first half on a goal by Paul Burns. Irvine Valley (7-0-2) tied it on a goal by James Fucetola early in the second half.

In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 2, Golden West 2--Ryan Sherry and Jed Smith scored for host Golden West (3-4-1, 0-0-1). David Uzzi and Gaspar Gutierrez scored for Fullerton (2-5-2, 0-0-1).

Cypress 6, San Bernardino Valley 3--George Charlesworth scored three goals for visiting Cypress (3-2-1, 1-0).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:

Golden West 2, Orange Coast 1--Melanie Midani scored midway through the second half to break a 1-1 tie for host Golden West. Lisa Johnson scored the other goal for Golden West (2-3-1, 2-0). Brittany Leonard scored in the first half for Orange Coast (4-1-5, 0-1-1).
