ROUNDUP : Dixon, Nicholls Lift CSUN Women to Volleyball Win

Marianne Dixon had 16 kills and Nancy Nicholls added 15 to pace the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team to a 15-6, 6-15, 15-10, 15-2 victory over U. S. International on Wednesday night in La Jolla.

Patricia Fitzsimmons added 12 kills for Northridge (11-5). USIU is 5-10.

MEN’S SOCCER

Cal Lutheran 11, Whittier 0--Two goals each by Tim Ward, Dan LaFond and Casey Pirih helped Cal Lutheran (6-1) rout Whittier in a nonconference match.

Goalie Eddie Guerricabetia scored a Cal Lutheran goal on a penalty kick.

Occidental 4, Caltech 0--Senior forward Carl Burmeister scored two goals and Dirk Hogan and Steve Chuck each added a goal to lead Occidental in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener at Caltech.

Occidental improved to 1-7-1 overall.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Cal Lutheran 2, Whittier 0--Candace Deutsch and Rachel Wackerman scored as host Cal Lutheran (4-2) rolled in a nonconference match.

The Regals outshot Whittier, 33-1.

Cal State San Bernardino 3, Occidental 1--Occidental fell to 2-2-1 in a nonconference match at Occidental.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Taft d. Narbonne, 13-15, 15-1, 5-15, 15-10, 15-13--Sarah White had 12 kills and Chris Veeck and Alison Greene each added nine to lead the Toreadors (3-0) to a nonleague victory. Dara Koskinen had eight aces for Taft.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Taft 6, Grant 1--Jennifer Nussbaum, Alison Luskin, Lydia Mendoza and Carrie Greenburg won in singles to lead the Toreadors (2-0) in a nonleague match.
