Foothill 2, Crescenta Valley 0--The No. 2-seeded Knights secured their 21st consecutive victory with runs in the first and third innings in their quarterfinal game at La Crescenta. With one out in the first, Amy Tessman walked, stole second, took third on a passed ball and scored on Kathy Shortall’s single. The Knights got their second run when Melissa Wielandt singled, stole second and scored on Kelly Green’s single to left. Right-hander Leeann Gonzalez (20-2) limited Crescenta Valley (25-3) to two hits and struck out four. She faced only 22 batters, one over the minimum. Foothill (23-2) plays Charter Oak (18-2) in the semifinals on Tuesday.

In a 1-A softball quarterfinal:

Whittier Christian 3, Cerritos Valley Christian 0--Deborah Goddu (11-0) pitched a no-hitter, her third of the season, for visiting Whittier Christian (13-7).
