The following are thumbnail sketches of members of the All-Glendale high school baseball team:

Andy Aguilar, Franklin--The 5-foot-11, 205-pound senior first baseman made the All-Glendale team for the second consecutive year. He batted .424 with five home runs and 35 runs batted in and also walked 17 times in helping lead Franklin to the City Section 3-A Division championship game, in which the Panthers lost, 5-1, to Narbonne.

Tony Aguilar, Franklin--Aguilar, one of only two juniors on the All-Glendale team, played all nine positions for the Panthers (19-10) and batted .340 with 25 RBIs and 27 walks. He is the brother of Andy Aguilar.

Marco Bellisi, Hoover--The Tornadoes had a 5-15-1 record, but Bellisi, a senior second baseman, was outstanding throughout the season. He batted .345 and was named second-team All-Pacific League.

Ernie Diaz, Crescenta Valley--In his third year on the varsity, Diaz batted .359 with five home runs and 26 RBIs. The senior infielder was selected second-team All-Pacific League after the Falcons finished 14-10 and advanced to the second round of the Southern Section 5-A Division playoffs.

Lance Evans, Glendale--Evans, a senior, played third base and pitched for the Dynamiters, who tied Crescenta Valley for second place in the Pacific League and qualified for the playoffs. Evans batted .320.

Raul Estrada, Eagle Rock--The senior infielder made the All-Glendale team for the second consecutive year after batting .434 for the Eagles, who finished 13-6 overall, 11-5 in the City Section’s Northern Conference.

Paul Gomez, St. Francis--A senior right-hander, Gomez had a 5-4 record, one save and a 1.97 earned-run average for the Golden Knights. He was selected first-team All-San Fernando League and was regarded by coaches as the top pitcher among Glendale-area Southern Section players.

Robert Icart, Ribet Academy--Icart, a 6-foot, 165-pound senior shortstop and pitcher, batted .364 and stole 22 bases for the Fighting Frogs. He was 4-6 as a pitcher and posted an earned-run average below 2.00.

Chris Jauregui, Glendale--The senior outfielder batted a team-high .390 for the Dynamiters who, despite an inexperienced lineup, finished 10-8 overall, 9-6 in the Pacific League.

Tom Loera Jr., Eagle Rock--The junior right-hander was the Eagles’ ace, compiling an 8-3 record and a 1.89 ERA.

Richard Martinez, Marshall--The senior right-hander was voted the most valuable player in the City Section Northwest League after he posted a 6-2 record and 1.17 ERA for the Barristers, who reached the second round of the 3-A playoffs.

Andy Saltsman, Crescenta Valley--After being given little playing time last season, Saltsman, a senior catcher, emerged as one of the top hitters in the Glendale area and was drafted by the Dodgers. He batted .342--of his 25 hits, 17 were for extra bases--with a school-record nine homers and 29 RBIs.

Rick Siegler, La Canada--The senior outfielder was named All-Rio Hondo League despite the Spartans’ 6-12 overall record and 6-9 mark in league play. Siegler batted .354 and stole 17 bases.

Jerry Whitaker, Franklin--The ace of the Franklin staff, Whitaker was 9-3 with three saves and a 2.40 ERA. The senior left-hander had 61 strikeouts in 54 innings and was selected All-City after winning two games in the playoffs.

Matt Ward, Verdugo Hills--The senior infielder was the most dynamic player for the Dons. He batted .330 and was selected All-Northern Conference in the City 3-A Division.

James Yoder, Crescenta Valley--The Falcons’ leadoff hitter, a 5-10, 155-pound senior, was a first-team All-Pacific League selection. He batted .321 and had 28 stolen bases.
