Area Trio Named to All-Small Schools Division First Team

Jakob Jensen of Highland Hall, Darren Brown of L. A. Lutheran High and Robert Mena of Providence were named to the All-Southern Section first team in the Small Schools Division, and Tum Ratanatraiphob of Highland Hall was picked for the second team.

Jensen, a senior infielder, is the state career leader in hits, runs batted in and doubles and set a state record with a 33-game hitting streak. He had a .676 batting average with 50 hits, including 14 doubles, five triples and five home runs. He scored 48 runs and had 48 runs batted in and 24 stolen bases.

Brown, a senior infielder, hit .712 and had 11 doubles and four triples. He scored 35 runs and added 28 RBIs and 24 stolen bases. Mena, a freshman chosen as a utility player, hit .527 and had 28 RBIs. He was 9-3 with an 0.82 earned run average.

Ratanatraiphob, a junior second baseman, hit .442, stole 35 bases and scored 43 runs. He has a state record 124 stolen bases.

Small Schools all-stars will receive their awards at Dodger Stadium before the Dodger-Padre game Aug. 21.
