HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Dorsey Victory Comes Early Because of Gunfire

Share

Two unidentified teen-agers in the bleachers were wounded by gunshots Friday afternoon during the Dorsey-Crenshaw game at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Because of the incident, the game was ended with 1 minute 5 seconds remaining. Dorsey was awarded the 28-12 City Section victory.

The game, a Southern Pacific Conference opener, had been moved from a scheduled 8 p.m. start to a 3 p.m. kickoff because of the fear of gang violence.

Rival gangs opened fire late in the game, as players and fans ran for cover.

Second-ranked Dorsey improved to 1-0 in the conference and 2-1 overall. Crenshaw, which upset Granada Hills Kennedy last week, dropped to 0-1 and 1-3.

Running back Sharmon Shah led Dorsey with 83 yards in 12 carries and one touchdown.
