ROUNDUP : CLU Women Notch 8th Consecutive Soccer Victory

Rachel Wackerman scored two goals to lead the Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team to a 4-1 nonconference win over Westmont on Tuesday at CLU.

The win was the eighth in a row for the Regals (9-2).

Midfielder Heidi Ramage opened the scoring for Cal Lutheran 13 minutes into the game when she received a throw-in from Rebecca Bloomer, brought the ball down the left side of the field and chipped it into the net over Westmont goalie Kirsten Weiss.

Forward Bradi Jarrett scored the only goal for Westmont (1-5-1), beating Cal Lutheran goalie Joann Vanderwall at 26 minutes 30 seconds. The score remained tied for the next 50 minutes.

“We had to light a fire at halftime,” Cal Lutheran Coach George Kuntz said. “At the beginning, we were playing really reckless.”

Wackerman scored the next two goals within a minute of each other. Catherine Graham assisted on the first goal and Ramage on the second. The goals were Wackerman’s 17th and 18th of the season.
