Westminster got off to an anything-but-awesome start in Friday’s 26-24 victory over Santa Ana in the Sunset League opener for both teams.

First, the scoreboard wasn’t operating as the players lined up for the kickoff. Then, Westminster’s Curtis Holmes had to borrow a kicking tee from Santa Ana for the opening kickoff.

“Our team manager left the balls and the tees in the locker room,” Westminster Coach Stan Clark said. “I didn’t feel real good about the game when we couldn’t find a tee, but I was real proud of the kids when they came back from a 14-0 deficit.”
