Trippet, the only returning starter from the Vikings’ Sunset League championship team, is helping to ensure Marina continues its success. Last week, she averaged 18 points in three victories as the Vikings advanced to the championship game of their tournament. She had 14 points and 18 rebounds in a 64-49 victory over Ocean View in the semifinals Saturday. Friday, Trippet had 13 rebounds and 28 points, including two free throws with two seconds remaining that sealed a 64-53 victory. Trippet had been called for traveling seconds earlier but Marina regained possession, Trippet was fouled and awarded two free-throw shots. “She had a lot of good plays that game and a few that weren’t so great,” Marina Coach Pete Bonny said. “I guess she put everything out of her mind after the traveling call.”
