PREP ROUNDUP : Wright Scores 51 Points in St. Michael’s 86-78 Victory

Jocques Wright tied a school single-game scoring record with a career-high 51 points in St. Michael’s Prep’s 86-78 victory over Cal Lutheran in an Academy League boys’ basketball game Monday at St. Michael’s.

John Grobler, who added 29 points Monday, scored 51 against Heritage Christian last season.

Wright, who made 14 of 19 shots from the field and 21 of 25 free throws, had a game-high 23 rebounds. He has scored 118 points in his past three games.

St. Michael’s improved to 9-9, 3-2 in league. Cal Lutheran dropped to 8-6, 1-4.

In Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:

Rancho Alamitos 77, Kennedy 43--Tracy Keller, who was three of three from three-point range in the first quarter, finished with 16 points for Rancho Alamitos (13-2, 10-0). Kennedy is 7-3 in league.

Santiago 45, Garden Grove 44--Teresa Garcia rebounded a missed free throw and scored the winning basket for Santiago (9-10, 6-4) with one second left to play.

Teammate America Robledo scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth quarter. Stephanie Bowers scored 22 points for Garden Grove (7-3 in league).

Bolsa Grande 44, Los Amigos 20--Ruth Yau scored 10 points, including three three-point baskets, for host Bolsa Grande (5-9, 2-8). Los Amigos is 0-10 in league.

In Sunset League girls’ basketball:

Ocean View 65, Westminster 47--Kristy Bell and Nikki Vivon scored 14 points each for visiting Ocean View. Lori Yoshizaki had 14 points for Westminster.
