GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Capistrano Valley Advances With 23rd Victory in a Row

Alisa Farr scored 14 points, Angie White and Stacy Howes had 12 each and Katie Scott added 10 as Capistrano Valley won its 23rd consecutive game, defeating El Centro Central, 65-25, in a Southern Section Division I-AA game Wednesday night at Capistrano Valley.

The Cougars led, 25-10, after the first quarter, 39-15, at halftime and did not allow a field goal in the second half.

Capistrano Valley (26-1) will face Long Beach Millikan, a 72-65 winner over Channel Island, in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

In Division III-A:

Costa Mesa 62, Pacifica 46--After a two-week layoff, Costa Mesa started the game shaky, but junior Olivia DiCamilli picked up things late in the first quarter and ended up with 21 points.

Costa Mesa will play Covina Northview (10-12), a 56-42 winner over San Dimas in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Heather Robinson had 11 rebounds and seven assists for Costa Mesa (20-6). Jennifer Surface had 13 points for Pacifica, which closes its season at 11-13.

Rancho Alamitos 78, Atascadero 59--Timerie James had 17 points and Anita Stecker 13 for host Rancho Alamitos, which led, 22-8, after one quarter.

Rancho Alamitos (18-2) advanced to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the La Canada-Rosary game. Sarah Lowe had 29 points and Stacy Babcock 22 for Atascadero.

In Division V-AA:

Capistrano Valley Christian 50, Hesperia Christian 42--Heidi Elliott had 20 points and 11 rebounds as the host Eagles (12-13) advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals against Encino Holy Martyrs.

In Division V-A:

San Bernardino Christian 78, Liberty Christian 51--Audrey McMurry and Jaime Robison each had 28 points as the host Knights (23-0) remained undefeated.

Jen Caruso had 17 points and Melissa Grippo had 15 for Liberty Christian (12-11).
