Successful defense: The San Clemente girls’ surfing team won its second consecutive California Interscholastic Surfing Federation 4-A championship last weekend, defeating Dana Hills, 13-8, in the finals.
In the 3-A boys’ division, four-time defending champion Capistrano Valley was upset by eventual-champion Vista, 23-19, in the first round. Carlsbad defeated San Clemente, 44-40, in the 4-A boys’ final. San Clemente had eliminated top-ranked Huntington Beach, 44-40, in the semifinals.
