BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Slide Costs Twins Hrbek for 6 Weeks

Minnesota Twin first baseman Kent Hrbek will be sidelined for as much as six weeks because of a dislocated left shoulder, sustained during an exhibition Saturday on a headfirst slide into third base. . . . Pittsburgh Pirate catcher Don Slaught was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained rib cage muscle and will miss at least the first six games of the season. . . . The Twins traded first baseman Paul Sorrento to the Cleveland Indians for minor league right-handed pitchers Oscar Munoz and Curt Leskanic. . . . Reliever Bill Landrum, cut by Pittsburgh last week, signed with the Montreal Expos. Landrum, 33, led the Pirates with 17 saves last season, and was 4-4 with a 3.18 ERA in a team-high 61 appearances.
