Simi Valley 5, Santa Maria 0--Sara Griffin pitched a three-hitter, struck out seven and walked none as fourth-seeded Simi Valley (24-2) won a 5-A game.

Amy Powell hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning.

Thousand Oaks 2, Ventura 0--Carrie Russell pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and Nicole Ochoa hit a solo home run in the fourth inning as the host Lancers (20-4) recorded a 5-A win.

Crescenta Valley 4, Peninsula 0--Stacy Atwood pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts and also drove in two runs for the visiting Falcons in a 4-A game.

Atwood (17-4) yielded two singles and a double and walked one. Atwood’s fourth-inning double drove in the game’s first run.

Crescenta Valley (19-4) added three runs in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Atwood and a two-run, bases-loaded single by J. J. Cannon.

Hoover 1, Burbank 0--Kelly Christiansen scored on an error in the fourth inning and Nancy Evans pitched a three-hitter as host Hoover (22-3) won a 1-A game. Evans (22-3) struck out 11.

Shannon Feliz’s double in the second inning was Hoover’s only hit. Christiansen walked and advanced on a passed ball to set up the run.

Bishop Union 8, Calabasas 4--Host Calabasas committed seven errors as Bishop (15-9) won a 1-A game.

Harvard-Westlake 6, Cantwell Sacred Heart 0--Lindsay Sloane pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight as host Harvard-Westlake (12-7) won a 1-A game. Heather Kinlaw hit a two-run double in the sixth.

BASEBALL

Royal 11, Arcadia 6--Shane Slayton had three hits and six runs batted in as Royal (19-7) pounded out 15 hits in a Southern Section 5-A Division first-round game.

Slayton hit a two-run double in the first and a three-run homer in the second. Dave Landaker had three hits and scored four runs.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Burbank 14, Palm Springs 4--Doug Young extended his winning streak to 30 sets as Burbank (20-2) won a Southern Section 3-A Division second-round match.
