School: Laguna Beach High

Sport: Volleyball

Position: Outside hitter

Class: Senior

Wacholder, who helped Laguna Beach to the Southern Section Division 5-A title last season and was The Times Orange County player of the year, last week gave a couple more demonstrations of why she is one of the nation’s top college recruits. She had 35 kills Tuesday in the Artists’ five-game, come-from-behind victory over El Toro. Twenty-two of the kills came in the final two games of the victory. Thursday, Wacholder had 30 kills in a four-game victory over Capistrano Valley. “She just devastated Capistrano Valley and El Toro last week,” Laguna Beach Coach Michael Soylular said. “Key players are expected to rise to an occasion, and she does, and she did.”

Other top performers:

* Jandee Evans, an Edison cross-country runner who ran 18 minutes 57 seconds for three miles to finish fourth in the Division II junior/senior race of the Laguna Hills Invitational and lead the top-ranked Chargers to the team title.

* Kelly Foster and Tami Demaree, who won two of their three singles sets to help Edison to an 11-7 upset of Rosary in a Sunset League tennis match.
