LOCAL NOTES : Titan Pitcher Longeway to Transfer
Cheryl Longeway, who backed up Tiffany Boyd and was expected to be the No. 1 pitcher at Cal State Fullerton next year, will instead attend Southwestern Louisiana.
Longeway, who was a standout at Kennedy High, on Monday verbally committed to Southwestern Louisiana, which finished a victory shy of appearing in the NCAA softball championship game this past season.
Longeway asked to be released from her scholarship at Fullerton for personal reasons, but was denied by Coach Judi Garman. As a result, she must sit out next season as a redshirt. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Longeway was 12-5 with a 0.93 earned-run average this year.
