COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Rallies to Defeat Orange Coast

Brenda Parks had 20 kills and Chris Vega had 17 as Rancho Santiago defeated Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball match Friday at OCC.

Kathy Farina added 48 assists as Rancho Santiago rallied for a 9-15, 12-15, 15-13, 15-8, 15-12 victory.

The Dons improved to 5-8, 3-6, completing their season sweep of Orange Coast.

In the Orange Empire Conference water polo tournament:

Rancho Santiago 12, Saddleback 11--Jeremy Yorba had seven goals and Mike Gonzalez 14 saves for Rancho Santiago.

In the South Coast Conference water polo tournament:

Golden West 18, Fullerton 3--Corey Delahunt scored five goals to lead host Golden West, which led, 6-0, at the end of one quarter at Long Beach Belmont Plaza.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 2, Cypress 1--Thethy Mai and Jose Figueroa scored first-half goals for visiting Fullerton (6-6-5, 4-4-1). Juan Galvan scored in the second half for Cypress (4-9-4, 1-6-2).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:

Cypress 4, Irvine Valley 0--Kathy Haerle, Debbie Klein and Leah Russell scored goals for visiting Cypress (17-0-1, 9-0), which also scored on an Irvine Valley own goal. Allegra Garcia had 14 saves for Irvine Valley (3-8-3, 2-4-2).

Golden West 1, Fullerton 0--Shawna Linson scored 10 minutes into the second half to give visiting Golden West the victory.
