OUTLOOK

The Knights bounced back after years of inconsistency. They finished third, but challenged for the league title, which would have been their first since 1987. Whether they can build on that success will depend a great deal on Roditis. Danley believes in the star system--get one guy and structure the team around him. Brian Carlson (19-point average) filled the role last season. Roditis certainly has the skills. He averaged 15 points and was named second-team all-league. He will be expected to step up his game a notch. The front line could help out, provided Pahl and Clayton have improved. Pahl showed signs of being a dominant big man last season. On some nights, he was nimble around the basket, blocked shots and pulled down rebounds. Other nights, he looked awkward and spent much of the game on the bench with foul trouble. Still, by the end of the season, he was more consistent. The same couldn’t be said about Clayton. There’s no question that he has ability, but he appeared confused at times last season. Danley is two victories away from 500.
