Key returners: Jonathan Blum, Sr., will play No. 1 doubles; Adam Call, Sr., will battle for No. 1 singles spot; Henry Chiang, Jr., will play No. 1 or No. 2 doubles; Yoshi Suzuki, Jr., will play singles; A.J. Thoryk, Sr., will play No. 1 or No. 2 singles.

Key newcomers: John Biorkman, Fr., ranked in top 50 in Southern California 14s, could play singles or doubles; Reza Farokhpay, Fr., will play doubles.

Outlook: The new CIF rule that puts more emphasis on doubles sets than singles (12 points to 9) should help Woodbridge, which, like last year, is long on depth and short on superstars. “I don’t have any top-ranked players in Southern Cal, but again, I’ve got three solid singles players and Jonathan (Blum) is solid in doubles,” Willett said. “(The new rule) changes things. I didn’t even know about it. It will be a big advantage for the teams that have depth, and that is our strength.”
