Santa Paula 8, Desert 2--Ryan Cavendar’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Johnson in the second quarter provided the only touchdown for host Santa Paula.

Josh Seamount led Desert (1-1) with 93 yards in 21 carries, but he also fumbled twice, including one on the Santa Paula six-yard line midway through the second quarter.

Santa Paula (1-1) recorded a safety with 35 seconds to play left when Desert quarterback George Rayford was called for intentional grounding in the Desert end zone.

Santa Paula defensive back Deion Medrano intercepted two passes, returning the second one 57 yards. Richard Gonzalez led Santa Paula with 55 yards in 12 carries.

Desert scored a safety in the fourth quarter when linebacker Ben Jones blocked a Santa Paula punt attempt out of the end zone.
