Cleveland 14, El Camino Real 7--Eric Brown blocked an El Camino Real punt and Jay Padilla recovered in the end zone early in the fourth quarter to lead Cleveland at Taft High.
With Cleveland (2-2, 1-0) trailing, 7-6, Padilla sacked El Camino Real quarterback Shaun Fishman at the Conquistadores’ 15-yard line to force El Camino Real (1-3, 0-1) to punt.
Brown then blocked the punt and Padilla jumped on the ball for the score. Padilla ran for the two-point conversion.
El Camino Real had taken a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Fishman hit receiver Jermel Jones on a seven-yard play. It was Fishman’s only completion in nine attempts. Eyan Schriebman gained 82 yards in 18 carries.
