BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Mulligan Gives Santa Margarita Victory Over Camarillo

Brendan Mulligan hit the game-winning basket with four seconds left to give Santa Margarita a 54-52 victory over Camarillo in a semifinal of the San Luis Obispo boys’ basketball tournament Friday.

Mulligan led Santa Margarita (2-0) with 17 points. Teammate Dennis Keane added 15 points and eight rebounds.

In the Brea-Olinda tournament:

Esperanza 64, Fullerton 46--Josh Greer led Esperanza with 19 points. Seth Letour scored 18 points for Fullerton.

Whittier Christian 58, Canyon 50--Brad Smith and Edward Zieman each scored 16 points for Whittier Christian. Canyon’s Jeff Llewellyn led all scorers with 22 points.

In Buena Park tournament:

Calvary Chapel 82, Rancho Alamitos 59--Isaac Leasau scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds, and freshman Joe Ortiz added 22 points for Calvary Chapel (3-0).

Garden Grove 51, Buena Park 50--Bryan Sanders’ free throw with six seconds remaining won the game for Garden Grove (3-0). Towan Oliver scored 17 points for Buena Park.

In the Daily Pilot Tip-Off tournament:

Los Alamitos 70, Newport Harbor 53--A.D. Lamoureux scored 15 points to lead Los Alamitos (3-0). Will Rankin scored 13 points for Newport Harbor.

In the Mission Viejo tournament:

Alhambra Mark Keppel 78, Mission Viejo 60--Mission Viejo could not stop Lu Phan of Mark Keppel, who scored a game-high 29 points. Tyler Kalklosch had 25 points and Austin Moherman added 17 for the Diablos. Despite the pool-play loss, Mission Viejo will meet Cypress for the championship at 7:30 p.m.

In the Orange Lutheran tournament:

Magnolia 54, Orange Lutheran 52--Josh Reding made two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to send Magnolia (2-0) into the championship game against Orange. Sonny Madsen led Orange Lutheran (1-1) with 11 points.

Orange 51, Saddleback 35--Andy Lauridsen scored a game-high 23 for Orange (3-0).

Capistrano Valley Christian 52, San Bernardino Aquinas 47--Tamer Ghosheh scored 24 points to lead Capistrano Valley Christian (1-1) in a consolation game.

Los Angeles Cathedral 61, Bolsa Grande 55--Charles Anderson scored 14 points, including four three-pointers, to give Cathedral (1-1) a victory over Bolsa Grande. David Price had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Bolsa Grande (0-2).

In nonleague games:

Capistrano Valley 45, Edison 43--Randy Shepard scored 10 points for host Capistrano Valley (1-1).

La Quinta 62, Marina 58--Ronnie Johnson scored 18 points to lead La Quinta (1-0). Steve Bolton led all scorers with 21 points for Marina (0-1).

Laguna Hills 64, Dana Hills 63--Dana Hills’ Blake Marston missed a free throw with no time remaining as Laguna Hills hung on. Mike Scaglione scored 34 points, including six of six free throws in the last 30 seconds, for host Laguna Hills (2-0). Donald Meyers led Dana Hills with 18 points.

Southern California Christian 80, Bundy Canyon 7--Josh Cameron led Southern California Christian (2-0) with 29 points.

Villa Park 87, Liberty Christian 45--Wes Furuta and Jason Hutson each scored 13 points for the Spartans (1-1).

Fountain Valley 64, Los Amigos 42--Dan Keller scored 18 points and Paul Tayyar scored 15 to lead Fountain Valley (1-1). Chris Francis led Los Amigos (0-2) with 17 points.
