BOYS’ BASKETBALL : Westlake Rolls Past Franklin

Jason Gaines scored 27 points and Nick Alexander added 20 points and 12 rebounds for Westlake High in a 84-64 victory over Franklin in pool play Thursday night at the Thousand Oaks tournament.

The Warriors advanced to tonight’s championship game against Washington.

Westlake (2-0) outscored Franklin by 10 points in the second quarter for a 40-27 halftime lead.

Johnny Sanders scored 28 points for Franklin (2-1).

Washington 82, Thousand Oaks 45--The Generals’ full-court pressure buried the Lancers.

The Generals started with an 11-0 run and held a 13-2 lead 2 1/2 minutes into the game.

Brian Gross and Chun Tang each scored 12 points for Thousand Oaks (4-3). Patrick Blake had 24 points for Washington (4-1).

Burbank 56, Grant 51--Matt Baker scored 31 points and Burbank (2-4) held Grant to eight points in the final quarter of a pool play game.

Grant (3-2) led, 43-37, heading into the final quarter.
