BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Bailey Scores 27 Points as Loyola Wins, 73-55

Loyola used an 18-4 spurt in the third quarter to break open a close game, beating Ventura Buena, 73-55, Friday night in a Beverly Hills Tournament semifinal game.

Ryan Bailey scored 27 points to lead the undefeated Cubs.

Cubs Todd Edwards scored eight of his 10 points during the third quarter, making all six of his free-throw attempts. Loyola forward Dan Farmer had eight points and 10 rebounds as the Cubs outrebounded the taller Buena team, 44-29.

Jordan 82, South Gate 46--Termell Goss scored 22 points and Clem Breedlove added 15 points, 11 assists and five steals as the Jordan Bulldogs won a Southeastern Conference game Friday at Jordan.

Trailing 14-7 after the first quarter, Jordan ralled for a 23-6 run as Goss and Breedlove combined to score 17 points.

Jerome Bedford had 18 points to lead South Gate.
