Forward Charles Johnson sank two free throws with 31 seconds remaining in the game to seal a Southern Pacific Conference win for the Dons over Washington on Wednesday at Dorsey.

Jason Howzell, who led Dorsey with 14 points, scored on a layup with 2:16 in the fourth quarter that gave Dorsey the lead for good, 52-51.

Dorsey did not make the mistake that most teams have made this season in trying to play an up-tempo game with the Generals.

Washington, which had several breakaway dunks in the first half, was slowed down by Dorsey’s full-court press in the second half.

General forward Charles Stone, who scored a game-high 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds in the game but only two in the second half. Ty Lamar added 11 points while making six of seven free throws.
