Coach: Bill Barnett (30th year).

1994: 14-13 overall, 4-1 in the Sea View League; lost to San Clemente, 10-5, in the second round of the Division I playoffs.

Key returners: Graham Harvey, goalkeeper, Sr.; John Jones, two-meter defender, Sr.; Mike Kelley, driver, Sr.; Cole Lunde, two-meter man/defender, Sr.; David Martindale, defender, Sr.; Mike Peetz, two-meter man, Sr.; Chris Richardson, driver/two-meter man, Sr.; Chris Seib, driver, Sr.

Key newcomers: Bryce Schilling, driver, Sr.

Outlook: Newport Harbor never has had a losing season under Barnett, but came uncomfortably close last year. This season shouldn’t be a problem. The Sailors are all seniors and most have varsity experience. Seib, starting his third season on the varsity, is one of the faster swimmers, Jones is the best defender and Richardson, a reserve last year, has the most talent, Barnett said. The coach is satisfied that this team has potential to challenge for the section title. “They are well balanced,” he said. “We have setters and drivers who are legitimate setters and drivers.”
