McCaskill Runs Out of Time, Eligibility at Cal Lutheran

Share

Kelli McCaskill’s volleyball career ended abruptly when coaches at Cal Lutheran discovered she was entering her 11th semester of college this fall.

NCAA rules dictate that athletes must complete their eligibility in 10 semesters.

Before joining the Regals two seasons ago, McCaskill, a middle blocker from Canoga Park High, attended College of the Canyons and Pierce. She didn’t compete at Canyons, but attended the school for two semesters. McCaskill attended Pierce for four semesters and played one year.

“It really doesn’t make any sense,” Cal Lutheran Coach James Park said. “It’s a strange rule.”
