Leticia Plascencia of Nogales was named most valuable player of the El Monte girls’ volleyball tournament Saturday. Plascencia led the Nobles to a 15-5 victory over A.B. Miller in the championship match. . . . Arroyo senior John Hake had the fastest time of the Nogales Invitational cross-country race, held at Citrus College on Saturday, 14 minutes 39 seconds over the 2.9-mile course. Arroyo was second in the senior team division. Under Coach Tim O’Rourke, the Knights won the junior, sophomore and freshmen divisions. . . .
