JC FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Passing by Flowers Plants Another Foe

Aaron Flowers completed 17 of 19 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns to lead visiting Valley College to a 55-12 victory Saturday over L.A. Southwest in a Western State Conference South Division game.

Valley, the top-ranked team in USA Today’s national community college poll, scored on its first two possessions when Flowers threw touchdown passes of 49 and 47 yards to Josh Gunther and Willie Perryman.

Flowers, who completed passes to nine different receivers, was pulled from the game late in the third quarter with Valley leading, 49-6. Backup David Lins completed all four of his passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Four Monarch quarterbacks combined to complete 23 of 26 for 344 yards and four touchdowns.

Marcus Harvey rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns for Valley (8-0, 7-0 in conference play, 4-0 in division play).

Eric Ruhle and Tweedy Stiner each had four receptions for 60 yards for the Monarchs.

Kareem Wafer scored Southwest’s touchdowns on runs of 33 and three yards. Teammate Eric Lewis gained 96 yards in 19 carries for the Cougars (1-6, 1-5, 0-3).
