Coach: Tim Mang (fourth year).
1995: 15-6, 8-2 in the Sea View League; lost in Division I quarterfinals to Beverly Hills.
Key returners: John Cappello, No. 3 singles, Jr.; Greg Coleman, doubles, Jr.; Reza Jahangiri, doubles, Jr.; Raj Shukla, doubles, Sr.; Tyler Stonebreaker, doubles, Southern Section individual doubles semifinalist as a sophomore, Sr.; Josh Weinstein, doubles, Sr.
Key newcomers: Sameer Chopra, doubles, Fr.; Taylor Dent, No. 1 or 2 singles, Ranked No. 1 nationally in boys’ 14s, Fr.; Kai Miller, No. 2 doubles, transfer from University, Sr.; Boris Turkic, Nos. 1 or 2 singles, exchange student from Croatia, top junior in Croatia, Jr.
Outlook: Corona del Mar’s prospects were bright before Turkic landed on Mang’s doorstep. Dent, the most highly-touted freshman in Orange County since Geoff Abrams at Newport Harbor, is former USC standout Brett Hansen’s brother and the son of former pro Phil Dent. Add Turkic to the mix and the Sea Kings suddenly have a shot at ending Santa Barbara’s impressive streak of Southern Section titles at eight.
