Nogales baseball Coach John Romano picked up his 300th victory last Saturday when his team swept Los Altos in a nonleague doubleheader. . . . Senior John Smith pitched Hacienda Heights Wilson to a 12-5 victory over Schurr in the championship game of the Duarte tournament last Friday. Schurr reached the final thanks to a no-hitter by Alex Martinez in a semifinal victory over Moorpark. . . . Michelle Bathalter had two triples and three RBI for San Dimas in a 7-2 victory over Rowland in a nonconference softball game Monday. . . . Temple City named Bishop Amat defensive coordinator Mike DeFiori as head football coach last week. DeFiori will be replaced by former USC standout Stephon Pace, who coached the Lancers’ secondary last season. . . . West Covina boys’ basketball coach Mark Hertenstein was selected to coach the East team and Hoover’s Kirt Kohlmeier will coach the West in the San Gabriel Valley All-Star Classic at Glendora High on March 23. Bonita’s Lonny Carr will coach the East girls’ team and San Marino’s Pat Doud the West. . . . Wilson boys’ basketball Coach Tim Stimpfel and girls’ Coach Leo Wingett both resigned last week.
