Trabuco Hills’ Gause Turns Back Corona del Mar

Josh Gause hit a game-winning grand slam with no outs in the seventh to help Trabuco Hills to an 8-4 victory over Corona del Mar in a nonleague baseball game Wednesday at Corona del Mar.

Trabuco Hills trailed, 4-1, after five innings but Gause’s brother, Zack, hit a sacrifice fly to finish a three-run rally that brought the Mustangs (4-1) even, 4-4. Corona del Mar is 3-2.

In other nonleague baseball:

Newport Harbor 8, Laguna Beach 4--Gavin Tomales hit a three-run homer and Grant Miller added a solo shot for Newport Harbor (4-1).

Villa Park 17, La Habra 3 (5)--Matt Boone had five RBIs, including a grand slam, and Greg Beaumarchais and Ryan Ferguson gave up no hits in five innings for Villa Park (3-2-1).

In Empire League baseball:

Cypress 8, El Dorado 3--Phil Seibel, who had two hits and an RBI, pitched six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs and struck out seven for Cypress (4-2, 1-0). Jerry Miller had three RBIs for visiting El Dorado (3-3, 0-1).

In nonleague golf:

Cypress 202, Los Amigos 282--Eric Wang shot a two-over-par 38 to lead Cypress at Mile Square Park.

Estancia 200, Newport Harbor 204--Bill Collopy shot a one-over 37 at Mesa Verde for Newport Harbor (1-1).

Fountain Valley 211, Ocean View 227--Mike Bulsombut shot a two-over 38 at Mile Square for host Ocean View. Fountain Valley is 4-1.

Mission Viejo 425, Aliso Niguel 432--Brett Armstrong shot a combined one-over 73 at Mission Viejo and El Niguel for Mission Viejo (2-2).

Orange 192, La Quinta 197--Kyle Richards shot a one-over 31 at River View for Orange (4-1).

Santa Margarita 182, Esperanza 217--Greg Pittenger shot three-under 33 on the north course at Coto de Caza for Santa Margarita (7-0). Nate Blauer, Tucker Brown and Nick Fritz each shot one-over 37 for the Eagles.

Trabuco Hills 203, Foothill 216--Nick Petrali and Cameron Dekker each shot two-over 38 for Trabuco Hills (4-0) at Tustin Ranch.

Villa Park 399, Valencia 430--Ryan Michel shot a combined three-over 75 at Alta Vista and Green River Orange course for Villa Park (2-0).

Corona del Mar 3, Laguna Beach 0--Hayden Aley (1-1) pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and Erica Greene had a two-run single in the fourth inning for Corona del Mar (4-1).

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Servite 14, Sonora 4--Servite’s No. 3 singles player Brock Heimann won two of three sets, 6-2, 6-1, and narrowly lost to Sonora’s No. 1 player, Ray Lejano, 7-6, losing the tiebreaker, 14-12.

In nonleague boys’ volleyball:

Huntington Beach 3, El Toro 0--Evan Hook had 18 kills for host Huntington Beach (3-0), which won, 15-9, 15-8, 12-15, 15-5.

Laguna Hills 3, Santa Ana 0--Jon Marshall had 16 kills for Laguna Hills (3-1), which won, 17-15, 15-9, 15-9. Job Jimenez had 11 kills for Santa Ana (2-2).
