Golden West Beats Cypress in 10th on Tuggle’s Single

Charlie Tuggle’s run-scoring single in the 10th inning gave Golden West an 11-10 victory over Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Friday at Cypress.

Cypress (18-6, 6-2 in conference) took a 10-6 lead into the ninth, but Golden West (10-8, 4-4) scored four runs in the ninth to send it to extra innings. Adam Bass had two home runs and five RBIs for Golden West.

In another Orange Empire Conference game:

Saddleback 14, Fullerton 5--Jon Lauderdale went four for four with five RBIs for the visiting Gauchos (11-7-1, 3-5).

In a nonconference game:

Rancho Santiago 18, Compton 2--Tony Zuniga had five RBIs and two doubles in Rancho Santiago’s rout.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Cypress 2, Fullerton 0--Jamie Wilkes pitched a two-hitter as Cypress (19-8, 5-1) pulled into a first-place tie with Fullerton (17-5, 5-1). Autumn Gwinner had two triples and scored a run for Cypress.

Rancho Santiago 4, Irvine Valley 0--Sam White had two runs scored and one RBI for Rancho Santiago (15-13-1, 3-3).

Saddleback 5, Golden West 2--Christina Loya had two hits and two RBIs and Wendy Scofield allowed only four hits for Saddleback (15-5, 4-2).

In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:

Irvine Valley 3, Santa Monica 2--Beau Bianchi had 29 kills and Alex Hale had 16 kills and 11 blocks for host Irvine Valley (2-7, 2-7), which won, 15-11, 10-15, 15-6, 10-15, 20-18.

Orange Coast 3, Pasadena 2--Troy Langley and Mike Pixler each had 13 kills for Orange Coast (11-1) which won, 15-4, 15-7, 11-15, 12-15, 15-10.
