Spring Sports : BOYS’ TENNIS

Three former finalists have made it to the City Section quarterfinals. As expected, Robert Williams, the 1994 champion and one of two Dorsey players to make the quarterfinals, defeated Sergei Kordonsky of Palisades in straight sets. The other Dorsey player to advance was freshman LaGeorge Mauldin, the only unseeded player to reach the quarterfinals. He defeated Golan Sassoon of Woodland Hills Taft. Top-seeded Noah Newman from Marshall defeated Venice’s Arman Dayutyan to advance. . . . In Southern Section Division II action, sophomore Andrew Park led San Marino into the semifinals along with Palm Desert, Sunny Hills and North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake.
