Pepperdine Catches Loyola Short

Jennifer Peterson’s goal with 46 seconds remaining in overtime lifted Pepperdine to a 2-1 victory over Loyola Marymount in a West Coast Conference soccer match Friday at Loyola Marymount.
Peterson, a freshman forward from Scottsdale, Ariz., scored her ninth goal in the 119th minute while Loyola (2-7-2, 0-1-1 in conference) was a player short.
Lion defender Bree McCann was ejected in the 96th minute after receiving her second yellow card.
Sarah Nichols scored to give Loyola a 1-0 lead midway through the second half. But Pepperdine’s Jennifer Evans scored her fifth goal with 12 seconds remaining in regulation play.
Pepperdine (8-3, 2-1) outshot Loyola, 24-9. Wave goalkeeper Nicole Tourney stopped five shots.
Santa Monica 4, Oxnard 2--The Condors (0-6-1, 0-5-1) allowed three goals in the final 25 minutes of a Western State Conference match at Oxnard.
Shirrelle Denson scored for the Condors in the 30th minute to tie the match, 1-1. Five minutes later, Priscilla Perez scored on a direct kick to give Oxnard the lead.
Glendale 2, Santa Barbara 1--Monica Aleman scored in the 75th minute and Claudia Alvarez scored 10 minutes later and the Vaqueros (3-4-1, 1-2-1) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit in a WSC game at Glendale.
Moorpark 1, Cuesta 0--Britt Christensen scored her sixth goal with five minutes remaining in regulation to boost the Raiders (8-1, 5-0) in a WSC victory over the Cougars (8-2, 4-1) at Moorpark.
Ventura 2, Bakersfield 0--Joy Barry had a goal and an assist, and Alicia Morosic added a goal for the Pirates (9-2, 5-1) in a WSC match at Ventura.
MEN’S SOCCER
Moorpark 5, Cuyamaca 0--Tyler Giardina and Mike Sanders scored first-half goals and Joey Medaglia, Aaron Bettendorf and Paul Bonvehi scored in the second half for the Raiders (4-0-3) in a nonconference victory over the Coyotes (2-4-2) at Moorpark.
Moorpark’s Brody Trejos had two assists.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Malibu 10, Nordhoff 4--Justin Jewell’s three goals weren’t enough for the Rangers (6-6, 1-2) in a Frontier League match at Ojai.
Calabasas 19, Cate 9--Jamey Krauss scored seven goals, Jason Brooks added four and goalie Mitch Wechsler made 18 saves for the Coyotes (13-3, 2-0) in a Frontier League match at Cate.
Royal 20, Westlake 3--Chris Richeson had seven goals for the Highlanders in a Marmonte League match at Royal.
Dave Radka had four goals while Peter Lavrikov and Jason Perry scored two each for the Highlanders (13-5, 2-0).
Elliot Myhre scored all of Westlake’s goals.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Westlake 12, Calabasas 6--Helena Horak swept three singles sets at the No. 1 spot in a nonleague match at North Ranch Country Club.
Jennifer Azevedo and Brittany Jensky swept at No. 1 doubles for the Warriors (7-1).
