CROSS-COUNTRY
Everardo Silva, Belmont High’s first-year coach, continued the school’s rich tradition in cross-country by guiding the Sentinels to their 12th boys’ City Section title in the last 15 years, at Pierce College.
Leading the way for Belmont was Manuel Lopez, who finished second in 15 minutes, 42 seconds to Ali Benmohamed (15:28) of Sepulveda Monroe.
Belmont scored 65 points and Van Nuys Birmingham was second with 82.
Woodland Hills El Camino Real won the girls’ title with 68 points.
Birmingham sophomore Tiffany Burgess finished first in 19:03, outdistancing Tamar Gamliel (19:17) of El Camino Real.
