Rich get richer: Bad news for future opponents of the Chaminade girls’ soccer team, which recently won the Southern Section Division III title: the Eagles have gotten even stronger.

Chaminade Coach Mike Evans said standout players Carley Stokes and Kim Taylor have been accepted to the school.

Stokes, a junior at Santa Maria Righetti, will transfer for her senior year. She is a member of the California Youth Soccer Assn. South State Olympic development team in the under-19 age group.

Taylor, an eighth-grader at Portola Middle School in North Hollywood, recently made the CYSA South State Olympic development team as a 13-year old in the under-15 group.

Goalkeeper Katie Thomas, a Chaminade middle school eighth-grader and a CYSA District Four Olympic Development under-15 player, will attend the high school in the fall.

Chaminade did not start a senior this year and will graduate one this spring.

The distinction is blurry because two volleyball players, Rex Roberts and Will Kitto, have already passed the Advanced Placement calculus test, and two others, Aaron Mezey and Dan Kim, are enrolled in regular calculus.

Kitto, a 5-foot-11 opposite hitter, also scored a perfect 800 on the math section of the Scholastic Assessment Test and, along with Mezey and Kim, is taking physics.

Maybe that’s why the Falcons have a legitimate shot at their first Golden League title in boys’ volleyball.

“It’s one less headache to deal with,” Palmdale Coach Matt Tassinari said. “I don’t have to worry about them academically at all.”
