Rancho Santiago Pounds L.A. City at Tournament

Sophomore Charlie Marino had two hits and drove in five runs as Rancho Santiago beat Los Angeles City, 11-3, in the Hardball Classic baseball tournament Friday at Rancho Santiago.
Marino hit a three-run home run in the second inning as Rancho Santiago, the top-ranked team in the state, scored four times to take a 6-0 lead.
Marino, a sophomore left-fielder from Kennedy High, added a two-run single in the seventh for Rancho Santiago (28-2-1). Marino reached base in five of six at-bats, scored three runs and stole two bases.
Mike Lopez (3-0) worked three innings for the victory for the Dons, who finished 4-0 in the tournament.
In round-robin play in the College of the Sequoias tournament:
Saddleback 8, Gavilan 2--Cory Willkie went five for five with three doubles and two RBIs and Jason Radwan hit a two-run home run in the second for Saddleback (25-4), which won five games during the week.
Ryan Tack (3-2) pitched six shutout innings for Saddleback, which had 20 hits.
