In another Division IV game:
Magnolia 5, San Marino 4--Greg Young had eight strikeouts in six-plus innings and improved to 11-0 for visiting Magnolia (23-2-1).
With two outs in the second, Joe Camarillo had a two-run double and later scored on Justin Reding’s single as Magnolia opened a 3-0 lead. Brian Morris had a two-run single as Magnolia scored twice in the fourth to lead, 4-1.
Art Garland had two hits also for Magnolia, which plays Covina South Hills in one semifinal.
In Division V:
Brethren Christian 11, Mammoth Lakes Mammoth 3--Jonathan Rouwenhorst (14-0) struck out eight in four innings of relief to increase his season total to 176 for Brethren Christian (21-7).
Rouwenhorst also was three for four, including two doubles in a seven-run seventh. Rouwenhorst led off the inning with a double and capped the one-inning onslaught with a bases-loaded double, driving in three of the seven runs.
Brethren Christian’s catcher, Aaron Ireland, suffered an mouth injury on a collision near home plate in the bottom of the third.
Keith Witt was two for four with a double and two RBIs for Brethren Christian.
In Division VI:
Southern California Christian 9, Avalon 7--James Brantley singled in two runs in the fourth to break a 4-4 tie for Southern California Christian (9-8), which held on to advance to the semifinals.
