In other tournament games:

Littleton (Colo.) Chatfield 54, No. 3 Esperanza 50--Chatfield, ranked 22nd nationally in the preseason, outscored Esperanza, 13-8, in the fourth quarter. The Aztecs played well despite the absence of all-county player Leah Combs and Kim Omer, who were sidelined because of flu. Allison Gerber scored 20 for Esperanza.

No. 6 Mater Dei 49, Santa Barbara 45--The Monarchs (5-4) overcame a five-point fourth-quarter deficit. Cassie Pappas led Mater Dei with 11 points.

Capistrano Valley 52, Chino 36--Monique Mathews had 18 rebounds and 10 points to lift Capistrano Valley. Key for the Cougars was their balanced scoring, getting 14 points from Sarina Kissel, 11 from Natasha Combs, and eight from Leah Wilde.

In the Artesia/Brethren Christian tournament:

No. 5 Marina 48, Ocean View 30--Ocean View’s Anna Lembke scored 12 of her 14 points between the midway point of the first quarter and the final minute of the third quarter, but was the only Ocean View player to score during that span. Marina (8-2) will play Huntington Beach in today’s fifth-place game at 4:30 p.m.

Diamond Bar 68, Calvary Chapel 46--Calvary Chapel’s Christy Ring had nine points, six steals and four assists in the semifinal game against Diamond Bar, ranked 12th in the state by Cal-Hi magazine.

Garden Grove 46, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 34--Katie Werdel scored 16 points in a consolation game for Garden Grove. Teammate Gloria Rojas had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Argonauts (4-5).

Diane Puentes had 14 points for Santa Fe.

Huntington Beach 46, Fontana 42--Courtney McKinney scored 18 points in a consolation game for Huntington Beach (6-5). The Oilers play Marina in the fifth-place game at 4:30 p.m. today at Artesia.

In the Las Vegas (Nev.) Cheyenne girls’ basketball tournament:

No. 2 San Clemente 58, Ventura Buena 47--Colleen Turnbull had 16 points and nine rebounds as San Clemente won the championship. Turnbull and Debby Caine (five points) made the all-tournament team for the Tritons (10-1). Kelley Kruger had five points and six assists for San Clemente. Buena is 8-1.

No. 10 Troy 59, Westminster 48--Freshman Veronica Johns had 19 points and six rebounds and Heidi Hardeman had 13 points and five assists for Troy (8-2) in the third-place game. Tara Moore had 17 points for Westminster (8-3).

In the Mount Carmel tournament:

Santa Margarita 65, La Mesa Helix 40--Venessa Ferragamo scored 21 points to lead Santa Margarita in pool play. The Eagles (6-4) dominated the first half, taking a 39-12 lead at halftime.
