Los Amigos Scores Early, Often Against Santa Ana

Los Amigos scored on four of its first six possessions and rolled to a 41-8 nonleague victory over Santa Ana, Friday night at Santa Ana Stadium.

Leading the way for the Lobos were running backs Levertis Riley and Najja Kee. Riley carried the ball 11 times for 86 yards and scored three touchdowns. Kee rushed 74 yards in seven carries scoring touchdowns.

At the half, the Lobos led 28-0 and had 259 yards in total offense.

Los Amigos didn’t let up at the start of the second half. The Lobos took the kickoff, and drove 75 yards on eight plays in less than four minutes. The drive was capped by a Kee 20-yard touchdown run.

Santa Ana could not muster any offense and showed little defense. Compounding the Saints’ problems were five turnovers (three interceptions and two fumbles). Santa Ana’a offense totaled minus 13 yards in the first half, and if it weren’t for a late fourth-quarter drive, the Saints’ total offense would have been for negative yardage.

The Saints’ initial first down didn’t come until 9:26 left in the game. That came on a 36-yard run by Lenny Cross. Twice on the drive, Santa Ana went for it on fourth down and converted, including on their lone touchdown. Backup quarterback Luis Curiel dived in from the two for the touchdown, and Robert Ramirez ran in the two-point conversion.
