Cal Lutheran 7, Redlands 6--Adam Rauch singled to left with two out in the top of the ninth inning to score pinch-runner Clinton Britt with the go-ahead run and Cal Lutheran (23-7, 18-1) clinched at least a tie for first place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a victory at Redlands.

Britt pinch-ran for Anthony Olden, who singled with one out in the ninth. Donny Churchman had four hits for the Kingsmen while Rauch finished with three and Olden had two.

The Kingsmen must win one game of a doubleheader with Redlands today at Cal Lutheran in order to win the SCIAC title outright. Cal Lutheran currently is 3 1/2 games ahead of Redlands (20-12, 13-3), which has three games after today’s doubleheader.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Pepperdine 9, San Francisco 0--The No. 12 Waves (17-5) didn’t lose a game in a first-round match of the West Coast Conference championships at Pepperdine.

Pepperdine will now face Portland (9-9) today at 1 p.m. in the championship semifinals.

SOFTBALL

Cal Lutheran 11, Pomona-Pitzer 0--Donna Scott, Kristin Taylor and Erin Bates each had two hits to pace Cal Lutheran (25-17, 14-2) in a round-robin game of the SCIAC tournament that went five innings because of the 10-run rule at Cal Lutheran.

In the fourth inning, the Regals strung together four singles, three infield errors, two walks and a sacrifice fly by Mandi Comer for seven runs.

Cal Lutheran now leads the SCIAC by one game and will clinch the conference championship if it beats both Redlands (10 a.m.) and Whittier (12:30 p.m.) today at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont.

Cal Lutheran 5, Occidental 3--Wendy Jackson had three hits, including a two-run double in the fourth inning to give Cal Lutheran a 3-1 lead in a round-robin game of the SCIAC tournament at Cal Lutheran.
